Temporary Resident Visas

You may be legally authorized to live in Canada as a foreign national who has been found to have met the requirements and allowed to enter or remain in Canada as a student, worker, visitor, or a temporary resident permit holder. There are several categories that you may apply under :

Temporary Resident Visas

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), commonly known as a visitor visa, is for individuals who wish to visit Canada on a short-term basis. You need to make an application for a Temporary Resident Visa before you seek entry to Canada and provide the details of the purpose of your trip, how long you plan on staying in Canada, prove your ties to your country of residence, satisfy the Immigration Officer that you will return to your home country. Applications can be rejected due to minute, missing or incorrect details, so it must be filled out prudently and well ahead of time before your intended visit. If you have received a refusal before, do not panic. We will do a thorough assessment of your previous application and help put together a complete application for an Immigration Officer to review. Pacific Ways Immigration Consultancy supports you on every step of the way to get temporary Residence Visa smoothly.

Electronic Travel Authorizations

There are some countries whose foreign nationals are exempted for a visa to Canada, meaning they do not need to apply for a temporary resident visa before planning a trip to Canada. Such foreign nationals, if they are planning to enter Canada by air or transitioning through Canada by air, need to apply for an ETA (electronic travel authorization). An ETA is not required if you are traveling by land, sea, or rail.

Temporary Workers

Canada is essentially looking for foreign workers and experts to help develop its strong national workforce. It offers its workers great benefits, competitive wages, high standards of workplace safety, and many other advantages and growth opportunities.

In order to work in Canada, the foreign worker will require a work permit that authorizes them to work and stay legally. There are many different types of work permits that Canada offers, such as,

Temporary Resident Permits

Sometimes, a foreign national may become inadmissible to Canada because of reasons, such as, criminality, security, medical issues, or misrepresentation. Here are some example scenarios that render you inadmissible to Canada:

  1. You  have a DUI conviction on your record
  2. As an international student or as a foreign worker, you may also become inadmissible to Canada if you violate the terms of your study or work permit, for example, studying or working without a valid work or study permit.

The Temporary Resident Permit is one such remedy available to those who become inadmissible to Canada. A Temporary Resident Permit is only given to a person if their need to come to Canada outweighs the risk of that person being in the country. For example, an individual might be granted a TRP for a visit to Canada if the trip is work related and that person’s presence in Canada will be beneficial to the country or its citizens.
